After the thread on self-propelled balers earlier this week, I thought it was rather a coincidence that this one just happened to be at the Scott/Carver County show in Jordan, MN today.

There is a couple here in MI they drove one or both across the bridge here a couple years ago when they still had the bridge crossing going. One is an older model than the other one. He has them looking like they came off the showroom floor or close to it. I don't remember the models of them. Did make interesting conversation pieces at the show afterwards.

I talked to Jim about his at an auction one time. He said he went to Archbold and bought an immaculate old 66 baler for parts to completely rebuild his. He said the former owner was extremely ticked off when he found out he was going to strip it for parts. He said it eased his mind a little when he told him what he was restoring, but he still didn't like it.

Looks like my 1280 or 82. Except mine they repowered it with and A/C model B power plant.
They did a beautiful job for the conversion. Belts covered and all.
BUT, the engine they put on it is hand crank!!! I can't do that anymore.
I just get my wife and my lil' Kubota tractor and give it a pull. It starts real easy that way.
I found a 172-cu. in.( I think) Ford motor that came off a small NH swather.
So, my plan is to replace that A/C motor with the Ford. I'll have to change the drive pulley and make
a new motor carriage assembly. When they removed the Ford motor, they just cut wires and cables!!!
So, I'm gonna have to make a simple dash/control panel to make sure it runs. Another project!!!
