Oliver 1550 misses

On acceleration, when it gets to about 1900 to 2000 rpm it will sputter under a load but continues to increase rpm and smooths out about 2300 rpm. I changed the points and condenser today and took it for a test run and it still does it. It you slowly increase rpm's it doesn't miss, only when you shove the throttle all the way ahead. It has a vaccume advance on the distributor, I took it apart and cleaned and lubed everything inside the distributor but it still does it. Otherwise it starts and runs good. I know a lot of people change to a different distributor, could that be the problem??

Gentle throttle application doesn't demand much fuel or spark. Quick application does do that. Does it pull loads that allow it to produce full power, like plowing or bush hogging? A weak coil can also make that happen. If there is a high speed adjustment it may need to be turned richer. I would do 1/2 turn at a trial. Jim

Mostly tractor rides but got to plow 3 or 4 hours over the weekend. Does it under load or running free. I was plowing in 3rd direct and tried it in 4th, didn't go very far and it pulled down to about 2000 rpm and started sputtering real bad, so I went back to 3rd and it ran better but still sputtered when I shoved the throttle all of the way.

Mine stalls easily till it warms up and used to lag some while baling uphill. I opened the load needle a bit at a time and it got better. Has a TSX 610, not the 903 it should have, and a Mallory distributor so no vacuum advance. It seems the idle needle has little to no effect.
