Storing an axle

I bought a different front axle for my Jeep as part of a long term plan for upgrading. The axle has higher miles on it, so I am planning to
rebuild it, but probably wont be installed for a year or so. How would you store it to minimize the chance of corrosion of my new internals?

different axle? are you sure its not the whole differential? i would just put it a dry building if your talking about a diff. if its an axle put it under your bed.

I would plug the vent and point the fill hole up, and fill it with any oil that you can buy cheep. And I mean over fill it to the top. That will keep the air and moisture out and the oil will not hurt anything because you are going to rebuild it. Set it on a couple of concrete blocks, jack stands, or hang it off of the shop rafters

Assuming it is the whole housing and has the gears installed, I would spray the ends with corrosion inhibitor (CNC brand is a good choice) then tape heavy poly bags over the ends. Put it in a dry place and all is well. Jim
