I am gonna go out on a limb here and say that riding herd over 3 women (11, 17, 39) and two youngin's (18 months, 4 years) plus 3 show horses for a 3 day event is damn near the most exhausting thing a man can live through...painting toes, braiding hair, rubbing backs- and that's just the animals! The women are worse!
On the bright side, we won over fences, my 11 year old won her poles, keyhole and figure 8 races and our mare ran a 15.4 barrel race and a 6.6 keyhole race first time out in two years. i am cautiously optomistic about Nationals in Mississippi- I just need to build up my immunity to drama before that 8 day event!
 
I know what you are going through. I raised two daughters. They were also into showing horses, wife helped out a lot with the horses.They also raised and showded beef cattle, dairy, and pigs while in 4 H. They kept Dad busy, then they both had to have a car, so old dad restored a 66 mustang for one, and a 60 mercedes for the other. Now as I look back I would do it all again. Both daughters are grown up now, and gave dad, and mom five grand childern. Stan

Where'd you find all those events this weekend.
I know what you mean about the hitching post. 2 kids riding and the daughter rides 2 horses so somebody (me) is usually holding 1. Either that or running the [tractor] or setting up barrels.
Both kids qualified for the Youth Nat. but the $4 a gal has put a halt to the can chasing for this year. Just doing local jumper shows and western speed events at the club in Richmond.
 
We were up at the ApHC show in PA...ever jump at Hazlewilde in Fredericksburg? We do their winter indoor jumpers...
 
Yup, we board the TB at Painted Horse Farm in Beaverdam. They made a few of those shows. I think the weather kept them away for some of them. Luckily there were only a few that went up there and all could go on 1 trailer so I didn't have too go. Currently doing the Hidden Haven shows at Pole Green Park in Hanover.
