Thanks for info It has no gen or alt on it need to get one am I right as to the model that it is a mag model XH1042 and serial #XC173744 it is very hard to read will I have a problem going back to 6volt on the starter?

Yes it's a model XH Wico magneto or some may refer to it as model X. Points and condenser rotor are available at most reputable auto supply stores. The Wico XH is still made brand new today. Starter should be fine unless someone got it too hot while on 12V frying it. Sometimes worn out bendix drives on a old 6V ran on 12V doesn't let it work too well and it may just need rebuilding at a local electric shop that has aftermarket parts for it.
