The things you see- Drool

Had to inspect a fellow's farm today. Have known him for years but never been on the farm. Older gent, a good guy, does his heavy work with a pair of New Hollands.
However. Part of my inspection protocols, I have to look everywhere. Behind the shed,an original JD 820. In the shed, a beautifully restored JD 70 Diesel Standard. Behind it, a totally original IH Super WD-9. Beside it, a restored Super WD-6. In another shed,a lovely 62 Rambler.
Wish I was able to poke around more places like this. Got to one place there was an A-C "U' back in the trees. Couldn't get to it then and when I got there a year later, it was gone. What he had just done was finish painting a Cockshutt 570 Super with a real nice 30 back in the corner.
Wish the wallet was a whole lot fatter.

Is part of the protocol reporting your findings on the www? I can appreciate your enthusiasm and realize no names or locations were given BUT, I would be p!ssed if I came on here to find all of my earthly treasures being described by someone who was supposedly on my property on business.

Kind of touchy about stuff aren"t you? Like you said no names no location who cares. I doubt the tractor theif network is gearing their investigative arm to hunt this stuff down.

I guess things are different in Ontario; I'd love to see you tell some of the folks I know, "I'm here to inspect your farm." Bureaucrat, huh?

I have to agree with 7012. I had a very close friend once now deceased that dairy farmed with his landlord on the halves for over 20 years and his landlord who was in poor health offered the farm to him for a very reasonable price so he went to the local bank he had dealt with for most of his time there and they sent one of the board members (a long time aquaintance in fact my bank) to look the property over and I happened to stop by the same day he was there and he said to me if I'd known the owner was going to sell this so cheap I'd have bought it myself Ouch! Two hours later my friend called and said the bank needed some time to think about it and said the owner was putting pressure on him to get financed so I called a buddy of mine at PCA and my friend had his farm by the end of the week. The old military word was loose lips sinks ships. IMHO

Come on!! Dairies are inspected regularly. Appraisers are expected to look at everything. I had my place appraised prior to making an offer for it and he was very thourogh. Ontario is a VERY big place and I'll bet there are more than a few Toms in it who do that work. I personally have NO idea where this farm could be in Ontario from what "Tom" (his real name?) has said.

Agreed, no harm was done in posting this. No name, location, city, etc. was given. With 415,598 square miles of land and more than 12 million people in Ontario, it'd take a LOT of hunting to find this place. Heck Tom didn't even tell us what line of work he is in to have to go and inspect this place.

I think the point being missed here is the fact that a friend or neighbor visiting this site may well pass on the info back to the subject with the tractors and he very well could cost someone their JOB!!! All seems very innocent until then.

Wow! Some people really think the worst. I kind of took it like you were just amazed at the nice restored equipment the guy had. It is neat looking at the older machines. Dave

Buddy of mine has a junkyard with everything from old cats to model a fords and 56 oldsmobiles, probably 200 vehicles in all.I was gonna take pics and put em on here for you guys but now I guess I wont.Dont wanna get cussed out ya know,{I get enough of that everytime I bring an old tractor home}. Hoss

Some guys here have the "right side of the bed" pushed up against a wall, so they are always "getting out of the wrong side of the bed"..... If you had mentioned horses also in the post, they'd have come after you with torches and pitchforks!

I took you as a fan when you described a 62 Rambler as "lovely"!

Talk about a bunch of b!tchy people. Must have been quite something to see all that in one place all at the same time!

Tom, first of all typing on the computer has one big problem and that is some comments aren't meant as hateful or bad it's just a lot of us can't write the way literary people do and I could have typed for hours to make a point and still came across wrong. First of all a lot of people on here only live a few miles from each other and could even be relatives and unless I'm different most farmers on here know thier neighbors by thier tractors I know my wife is amazed that I know most every farmer within ten miles of here by thier tractor it's just an inherent trait so my comment was a word of caution not meant to be hateful so if I came across that way I apologize. Cadet: Thank you.

Thurlow; i am not a bureaucrat, I am a self employed contractor for non-government agencies and I am on farms by permission and appointment only in farmer voluntary programs. No they are not subsidies like I had a guy from PA accuse me of.

Landlord: I've known this gent for years and he is 675 miles from my home. He's one of this earth's truly good people.

Bear in mind from my home to the Manitoba border is a very hard 26 hours non-stop. Key West Fla is closer. So good luck finding him.
