So there I was....

Changing the tranny oil in my Farmall 400..

There are 3 drains. Two are mid tractor and one at the very back.. The one at the back was a little slow after the initial dumping so I sticks my finger in and guess what? A chunk, 2 inches by 4 inches of very hard sludge. Looks like carbon and is the consistency of what I can best describe as soft coal. I will try to get a picture if I remember.

Anyone ever see anything like that come out of their tractor?

Also coming out was a small metal brackt. It looks like one of those clamps you attach a pipe to a wall with. A 'U' with tabs on the end. It is evident it broke off.

When I engage the Torqu Amplifier it just makes a loud whirring sound.

I am of the opinion to just use it as is. I don't have the tools or experience to split the tractor to look around in there.

Every old tractor trans or diffy I've ever reached into had a few inches of sludge in it...

I was ready for sludge but not this hard stuff!Must have been cooking and congealing for the life of the tractor! lol

Something was really hot internally during sometime in tractor's life. Was the tractor burned and repainted sometime in the past? Just thinking out loud. Jim
