Dear lads I have I old International that has two light on the dash one has no bulb and the other comes on when I turn on the key and when the tractor idles But this is the part that worries me it also comes on one hour after working and will only go off if it I give the tractor more gas

Sounds like an oil pressure light. Make sure the sending unit is working properly, maybe try some heavier oil.

You could try some 15w40 or straight 30w but the engine is probably about worn out and could use a rebuild. A heavier oil will just buy you some more time.

The engine is never been apart and has 6700 hours but it does not burn oil and the compression is 210psi

Hello,
sounds like your oil pressure light. if you turn on the key and the light comes on then find the oil pressure sending unit on the Engine block un plug the wire if the light goes out then i would remove the sending unit and put a oil pressure gauge in it should be 1/8 npt any gauge will work if you have the room you can screw it directly into the block. i don't know what model tractor you have but general rule is you should have around 10 psi at idle and 20 or more at full rpm. if you have the pressure then replace the sending unit. if you don't have good oil pressure the you need to get the engine repaired or rebuilt. I would strongly recomend not running the tractor too much untill you get this checked out. low or no oil pressure can cause big problems.
Good Luck Ed

the old iron was ran with non deturgent oil 30 or 40 wt 20 in extreme cold conditions. I have found out that the deturgent oil in the old ones can be very costly if your oil presure checks good with a gage i recomend using 30 wt oil with oil additive such as lucas and lead additine in gas never rely on a light check in a positive manner gage for oil and multimeter on electric

One way to tell for sure whether it is the oil light or not is to drain all the oil out, then start it and run it, at medium RPM.....if the light stays on, then it must be the oil light.

.....just kidding!!!!
