OT...Starlings

We have hundreds of starlings or blackbirds roosting at night in a couple big maple trees near the house. The aren't around during the day. I would love to shoot them but have neighbors too close. Any ideas on how to keep them away? Thanks.

They're a bunch of stupid birds, aren't they?

They're highly irritated by moving lawn decorations. I have little windmills on my front porch, perhaps you could get some sort of moving object and put it under the tree.

Shoot, even wind chimes or the flapping of a flag even made them jump as I was looking at my porch.

i imagine they'd get used to it sooner or later.

I would like to rig up an air horn to go off for a moment every 20 minutes.

We use strobe lights in our open storage areas at work to keep birds from roosting. It works. Don't know how well it will work in your yard though.

I always used a pellet gun and a flashlight. Dad had all kinds of birds getting into the shed making a mess on the tractor seats. We cleaned out a bunch and it seemed that the others just left.

What is the problem with the Starlings? What damage are they doing? They eat a lot of insects.
