Wheat harvest 2008

Just thought I'd share some picturs to show you guys how a big farmer in Southern Michigan combines wheat. Combine is a 1940 Allis-Chalmers 60 and the tractor is a 1948 John Deere D. Wheat is going to yield good but can't seem to get the moisture down. Maybe finish next week.

Who said green and orange don't go together. They look like they go together good.. Nice pictures.

Dont look as good as red and green. I stacked behine an orignal IH 46 baler and a restored 620 JD the other day, boy did those two sound good together.

I have no choice but to give you a hard time. Lose the green shirt for an orange one and grab a AC tractor instead of the green thing. Come on over and post pictures on the AC.com discussion. All crop 60 is a great machine. Have one myself, although rye can give them a good workout as you have to slow down with the tall straw going into the cylinder.

Hooo, good memories! Dad combined with an All Crop pulled by a Super W6. LOVED combining wheat. Ours had a bagger platform with a homemade guardrail around it, so I was allowed to ride the platform and dip "snacks" out of the bin.

Didn't care as much for oats or soybeans (too dusty) but I never missed a chance to ride along while running wheat.

Don't know exactly what the yield will be yet. I ran one tankful Monday at 19.4% I ran another Friday at 17.5% I am going to have to go ahead and finish it next week.
the weeds are starting to grow and the old Allis-Chalmers doesn't like much green stuff going through.

I spent my time on an AC 60 combine, mostly with a WD Allis or a 44 Massey. I did pull one once with a VAC Case, and the Case handled it OK.

And people around here (locally not the board)laugh at me when I make hay with my WD and NI 30A mower.

Good to see the old stuff again.
We never had an AC but did have an old IH76 for a few years along time ago.
