1947 John Deere B Manufac. info

ive got a 47 b and it has a few special things that are different than most. one thing is it has a roll-o-matic front end wich ive been told is original. another it has spin out rims on the rear and i was told they had came out with them one year or so as a trial deal. dont really know but they are the only set of them ive ever seen on a 2 cyl. and third it has a box seat and if im not mistaken the 47 came with a spring seat. if you have any info. to help me out it would be helpful if you would help me out a little. thank you.

rollamatic is orignal, and the bench seat i think is too. They were on the late styled Bs. I think 47 is still a spring seat, and im not a green guy (yet) but i'd think someone may have swapped seats

Does your B have a cast iron frame or a pressed steel frame? Pressed steel frame started sometime in 1947. The RollOMatic is most likely the factory one on a '47, but it also could have been added by someone else. The later B used a box under the seat to hold the battery since the newer B had come standard with electric starting and lights.

Deere had the last major change in the letter series tractors in 47. All of the Model A and B tractors had battery box seat. Roll-o-Matic was pretty much standard on all the narrow front tractors as well that year.

The spin out rims were added later. Allis Chalmers was the first to use power adjust rims and I think they introduced them on the WD, and that was not until 48 or 49

Our '47 had standard front axle (not roll-o-matic), bench seat with battery underneath in box, pressed steel frame, and pressed steel wheels. All standard factory for this unit.

The last (Styled) Model B was serial #200247 built on Jan. 9th, 1947...it had the pan seat.

The first (Late Styled) Model B was serial #201000 built Feb. 4th, 1947...it was the first B with padded seat and battery box.

Your question.....would any of your tractors options add value.......

If you do research and find that the (Spin out Rims) actually came with the tractor as a trial from John Deere....then the rims would be of value.

The chances that the rims were on the tractor when new are slim.

Good luck, Rich
