have a 1950 H- farmall, input shaft bearings in the transmission are shot, i have them out but cant't read the numbers on the smaller of the 2 that run on the outside of the shaft, they have snaprings, the larger one is number L-340, anyone know the number of the smaller bearing ??????

The easiest way is to call the dealer, if they're willing to help out, even if it means that you don't buy from them.

I can only get part numbers out of the parts manual. The number you gave doesn't match anything. If you have a bearing dealer near by bring it to them to match it up.Hope this helps.

woah, dont be so mean fella.i had the same problem managed to get some at local NAPA i live in a rural area so our napa still handles alot of old tractor parts. going to a bearing place to match up may be best bet

The number on the bearing can vary depending on who made the bearing. The IH part number is: ST247. Another thing, the bearings are metric.

I have found this to be a good source for metric bearings.

Like Nebraska Kirk says, all the trans bearings are metric. I had to replace all of them in the trans of my 44 H. Just measure them up with calipers and get the bearings. Over here it is cheaper to get 2RS bearings (2 rubber seals) and flick the seals out with a small screwdriver than to buy open bearings. I was really suprised to find that the bearings were metric.

Our local dealers don't mind helping me out, and normally I do buy from them. Sometimes they don't mind me going to a direct source for things like bearings because even they can get sticker shock.
