3 weeks ago..just today told me my fuel tank was rusted through and needed a new one.... of course this was 3 weeks after 'just moved a couple out will get to it this week...'

Grr.... 3 weeks and now have to order the fuel tank. My alfalfa ages by the day....

Not happy with local dealer....

I don"t know about in your area but we"ve found that its quicker to just get a one man band garage to fix the deere tractors, he"s quicker and does better work then the dealer could ever think about! But hey thats just my opinion.

Most of the green tractors around here seem to end up at the local Case-IH dealer for repairs. The guys in that shop are good, and they don't care what color it is.

Around here we've had the opposite luck; The Case IH-NH dealer told us to bring our baler out for repairs, then just left it sit. Finally took it over to JD. They fix all the colors and have been very prompt with repairs.

Before i would buy a new tank i would take it to a radiator repair shop have it cleaned out and dump a qt. of that sealer in it that seal and coats it and never worry about it again may cost a buck and ahalf but way cheeper then a new tank and be back in the field in a day or so.

A BIG electric soldering gun ,some solder and sone galvanized tin will put patches on a steel tank. Never had to do it again...just "tin" the whole area and the outside of the patch too.

Think that's bad - it took the tractor place where we took our Krone 260 baler 10 weeks to get it "fixed" and that's only because I started to fuss about it after it sat untouched in their yard for 7 weeks. They said it was ready once and when we came to pick it up, the tieing mechanism didn't work. They hadn't even checked it. We told them to fix it and left. Called on it two weeks later and it was supposedly "field ready". Picked it up, took it home, they hadn't even touched the tieing mechanism. We fixed it and several other things they were supposed to fix ourselves. They won't get any more of our business.

Just got the fuel tank back on my tractor. Didn't know a diesel tank could rust so bad. Took it to a local radiator shop and he had to cut a hole in it to clean it well enough. Took 3 weeks but I told him not to hurry, I wanted a good job. He had to wait until he had a less humid day. He Red coated it. Cost $80. Had to be much cheaper than a new tank.

That doesnt need to happen.
Iam the parts and service manager at a dealership. The first thing that happens is after the unit is dropped off is that it gets looked at and a estimate created and the customer called. Then the tractor goes in line-first come serve, however by doing the pre-op process Ive contacted the customer-got approval for the work-they know approx what to expect and the parts are placed on order if not in stock. This takes place generally all within 4 hours after the equipment hits our lot
Could some pieces run 2-3 weeks maybe(but the customer knows ahead of time how busy the shop is)But when its number is up its fixed and done
It is sad that a dealer would let this happen to you.It really dont have to be that way

No and never. Just a small guy who really doesn't go in there. It is always cash and carry with me...at least at JD....

Well I might have thought of something a little different if he had said 3 weeks. I understand they are busy, we all are, just give the facts and let me decide..good or bad...

Well there are other dealers about the same distance, I didn't have to go to this one, just if I needed to visit on my lunch hour this was closest one...

Oh well, live and learn...

Hmmmm? another anonymous poster............

Not that I disagree with what you've said, those are questions that need to asked on behalf of the dealership in order to keep the discussion fair but you must be too afraid to put your normal handle or name behind your comments??

Complain to the dealer owner. They need a new service manager sounds like. Complaints to JD Co. direct will do no good as can tell you BTDT and they don't care it's the dealers problem and your problem.
