Tractor hitch drop

I have a Farmall 400. I have been trying to diagnose a hydraulic problem. Besides a few leaks I am unable to lift a large bale of hay over about an inch or two. I was told the bales were in the 1200 lb range. The 3 point conversion arms stick back about 3 feet from the hyd. cylinder. I use a chain around a bar under the tractor to act as a toplink.

So, I have been asked about if the hitch settles over time with a load on it. I put a grader blade on the 3 point arms that weighs in the 200-250 lb range. It settled bout 3/8 of an inch in 12 hours.

What opinion do you all have? Is it a bad leak, small, or just ordinary? I think that it shouldn't drop at all with a perfect system.

and this isnt a perfect world.what seems to be the problem.if your going to try to find a leak, that loses less than a pint of oil in 12 hours, your peaing on a forrest fire

Opps,2 different problems... how much pressire does the system put out.if your not making enogh pressure your only going to be able to lift a few hundred pounds.I dont think your hitch drop has anything to do with your lift problem

1000psi which is above the minimum off 900. Just wondering if that is a big deal drop or just normal for an old system.

i think the drop should be considered normal.under some weight of some thing on the lift the o-ring in the lift could leak a little and you would never be able to fix it.

i dont know how much 1000 psi would lift in a 3 inch cylinder with extension out at three feet
