Another charging system post

My inherited tractor is a 53 NAA. The charging system has been giving me fits now for over six months.
A forum member, John T, posted a trouble shooting guide, but I think it was for an A circuit system.
I tried to IM him but it that feature isn't working. does anyone know what modifications must be made to his system for a b circuit?

New battery ( 6 Volt Pos grnd). New VR (6 volt B circuit for NAA) New Ammeter. And finally a new generator from this site to fit a Jubilee.

Wiring is exactly as Jubilee wiring diagram shows.
All connections cleaned.
Still shows no charge!
Tractor running at idle a test across battery posts shows 6.1 volts. Tractor at 1500 RPM shows the same 6.1 volts
With key on, tractor not running the ammeter doesn't move from center
Polarized new generator field to battery hot (neg post)
Still, it appears that there is no charge to battery.
Any and all help would be very welcome

Try the following:
With it running at 3/4 throttle, put full Battery - volts to the field terminal. Watch the amp gauge to see if it begins to charge pretty hard. if it does, the regulator may be bad (even new). If does not, begin checking every ground (paint is an insulator) solid connection to the amp meter load side from the bat terminal on the regulator, is also important. Did it make a spark when polarizing? If not it needs to do that to assure polarization. JimN

Made spark when jumping field to hot battery(neg) post.

Not sure what you mean I'm not good with electric. Do you mean to jump my hot battery post (neg) to the field terminal on genny?

Yes. If it is a B circuit Volts to field type. No if it is a grounded field type. Most Fords are B type systems. If you do not know the difference, doing it wrong will let the smoke out of the parts!! JimN

I took Genny to electric repair shop. They could not get it to create a charge either! One odd thing is that when they opened the back up out popped a screw that was apparently loose inside the case. Best guess is that it nicked something.
Keep in mind this was a brand new Genny from Yesterday's Tractors. They will make good on it but now I'm waiting another 7 to 9 days

I expect plenty of generators and regulators have been cooked by this polarizing bs.I started working on generators in the early 50s,never polarized a generator. When the generator charges enough the shunt coil pulls the cutout contacts shut.A heavy current from the battery will oppose the weaker voltage output of the generator if it happens to be of the wrong polarity.
