Is anyone familiar with these engines? I'm making a tractor haul truck out of a '89 Chevy Tiltmaster (Isuzu NPR) and I have a bad 4bd1 in it I have access to a 4bd2 (I understand they used them in later model trucks) will the 2 go in place of the 1? is there any major differences in the hookups of these engines? I know about the intercooler I'm getting all that stuff with the 2 engine. Just what is the difference between the engines other than one is a later model? Thanks for any info

if it has the auto trans. my trans guy tells me they are junk trannys not that I would know we have one at work and the trans. is gone out again. 3rd time

Its the early jatco auto trans without the cooler that had problems, they supposedly fixed them later. Make sure that if the motor was used on a stick tranny, you retune the motor to an auto if that's the way its going, they detune the motor about 15 HP on sticks.
