You get up befor I do, so I will ask befor I go to bed. Did you get any frost last night? Harvest moon. Daddy used to say frost on first full moon after the first of September.

39 at 6am, which translates to about 35 out on the high country.

Gotta get that darned wheat in the ground.

Finally dried out enough to get in the field yesterday; promptly twisted/snapped the middle section of my rod.

Hope to get 'er welded up and back in the ground this morning.

(quoted from post at 13:29:58 09/15/08) Pardon my ignorance, but what implement is that Allen?
Not meaning to answer for Allan but I think he once told us it was to break the weeds loose just below the surface. Whatever it looks like a good idea with not to much horsepower required. But-- it would never last a day in the heavy clay and rocks I have to contend with. Bob

Rod Weeder.

Rod turns backwards to ground travel just under the surface. Used as the last pass before planting to remove all weeds while leaving the ground moisture intact.

Thanks for the info Bob and Allen. I havent ever seen anything like that before. Then again I havent ever spent much time on farmland in a place that is for the most part probably like a desert (you can correct me there if Im wrong)

In the field you are working in, it doesnt look like there are many weeds there at all.

It does look like it would leave a good seed bed for whatever it is you wanted to plant!

Thanks again for the learnin'. I can always use more of it.
