Brushcutter Help

I'm having a problem with my McCulloch Proscaper 5
brushcutter. Ran perfect last time out about 2
weeks ago, put it away. Went to start it today and
must have pulled that rope 100 times. It has fresh
fuel mix, new plug(twice), good compression, I
removed the muffler and cleaned carbon and removed
screen, tested the on/off switch and wire(good),
getting fuel and has spark when I ground plug and
pull rope. Air filter is clean and fuel filter the
same. Can't figure why it won't fire cause I have
fuel and spark. Anyone know what I'm missing? I
can't take it anywhere cause no one will touch
this old McCulloch stuff.

Try a new plug or take a torch to the old plug and heat it red hot, then let it cool so that you do not damage threads in the aluminum head. Plugs will sometimes fire when no compression is present but will not when under compression.

I have a pro scaper III that did the same thing. I could start it with starting fluid, but the moment I atttempt to throttle up it will die. Once it starts it will run at idle but not at working rpm. It is the Fuel Filter. Though it might be a carb adjustmentfor you. Try the starting fluid, if it pops then check the carb for build up in the jets.

Good luck.
