New Tractor Shed

Hello , I have to build a new building to put my tractors and machinery in.
I need it cheap as possible and want it to take a good snow load.
I think about 20 by 60 would be ok. Any suggestions ?

Wood and steel pole building it about the cheapest. One suggestion, go as wide as you can afford, but keep it short, then and expansion is made easier by just adding length. ie 36x48 would be a nice start, then add another 24 feet later when funds are more accessible.

Wood and steel is a good idea and so is the size suggestion. I just wanted to add that a dark colored roof will take in more heat and help melt that snow off.

Most of my sheds are very cheap built ones as in less then $500 in most of them. I used scrap iron I had laying around and used roofing tin. Most are made with mobile home frames, I beam type and pipe or square tubing up rights

We have a little over $500 in our tractor "awning".

2" Pipe, 4" purlins, and 12" sheet metal.

Not some of our better work.

It will stand up to any "snow" load because in NE Texas there"s no snow.

How many JD tractors do you see under the "awning"?

Not to be smart, but if it has a lot of snow on it, how is a dark roof going to help?? Light sno I wil agree with, once it gets through to the color.

That is a very good point. However if it snows after a sunny day the roof will be warm and the snow wont be able to build for more than a few inches before it will slide off.butt you are right if the snow gets too deep it wont matter if the roof is black or white or pink.

tarp shed the big ones have a 60x80 16 ft high put up ourself real easy up in about 3 days a lot of dairy farmers have them for loafing barns 300ft.+ about 1/3 of other buildings and the have a 30 year warranty. check out teck suppy

Look into the fabric buildings if 'cheap' is the main concern. 'SilverStream' is a popular brand around here. They would be ideal actually for the size you have - that's pretty skinny, and long. Hard to juggle machinery around in that size? A 32 by 36 might fit tractors & machinery a little better?

Looking at the pics, it is amazing what southern folk can get away with! Wind, snow, those wouldn't a lasted 6 months here in my part of MN. Not putting down anyone's work; just amazed on the differences.

Color of roof has no meaning, angle of the roof is what is important for snow. Steep it slides off, shallow it stays on, can build up an ice dam if part melts & part doesn't.

Remember the golden rule of sheds, if you build it twice as big as you think you need, it might take a couple years before you outgrow it....

I'm sorry but I can hold back any longer...Old, as I understand it from reading on here your disabled, can't work a job because of being disabled, and get paid tax payers money because your disabled...I have never in my life known of a disabled person that can't work a job but can take so many tractors apart and rebuild them, change so many tires, tubes and wheels on tractors, go places buy junk have to load it up bring it home and unload it, make hay climbing up and down on and off of several tractors, build tractor sheds out of scrap metal, (but when you have a storm and a limb pops a hole in your roof you feel the need to have FEMA take care of it) brag about owning 36 tractors, talk about being a preachers son. Go get a real job, or go on the Jerry Spring show and fit in. I would guess you evade paying taxes because you do "cash deals". What has happened to this country? The break down of this country is at all levels, I think it's pitiful. sorry maybe I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, I just had to let it out.

Its the way I do thing not the other way around. Ya I can still do a lot of things but I can not stand on my feet for more then and hour or so and I can not lift much as in doctor limit of 35lbs so I have ways to lift things. As far as tax payers money I payed into the system ever since I was 14 ya I stated paying taxes when I was 14 and had a real job back then. I also served 6 years in the NAVY and I'm a D.A.V. you need to walk in a persons shoes before you put them down. You only see the picture from your view not from the way it really is
