lift arm pins

Looking for a odd sized lift arm pin.

I bought a cat 2 cultivator. It is a factory 5 row but I am going to cut it down to a 3 row for use behind my cat 1 tractor.

While I can find cat 1 thread end to cat 2 pin end I can not find it the other way.

I know the reason is because a cat 2 implement should not be behind a cat 1 tractor but that is beside the point because I will be cutting this down smaller.

So before I get out the electric wrench and weld the thread end of a standard cat 1 pin onto the implement because it is smaller than the hole it fits in I thought I would ask if anyone has ever seen or knows where I can get a odd sized pin like this.

Thanks

How about bushings on the threaded end? I know I've seen all kinds of bushings for sale somewhere.

I do not think you understand my problem.

I have a cat 1 tractor and the implement has cat 2 pins on it right now.
I do not need to bushing up I need to reduce the size of the pin.

If I buy cat 1 pins the pin end fits my tractor well BUT the thread end is to small for the hole in the implement. I am affraid even if I get the nut tight the pin will walk around in the hole making it easier for bending or breaking.

Ok, you are right. You can go to a real tractor supply place and get what you need. All my stuff does not have pins on it. It has 2 brackets that you slide a pin through. That way you can use with whatever tractor you need. Just use a bushing for the smaller pins.

cat 1 7/8" pin x 7/8" threaded end. cat 2 1-1/8" pin x1-1/8" threaded end. cat 2 pin x 7/8" threaded end available. cat 1 x cat 2 bushings 7/8" x1-1/8" available. if implement has 1-1/8" holes get bushings/ you may have to cut to length so bolt end with flat washer and lock washer will draw tight on implement/ if 7/8 hole in implement use cat 1 pins. for reference on sizes and availability i used tractor supply catalog.

Check Baum Hydraulics. www.baumhydraulics.com They have every odd pin sold in stores.

The one you want to look for is double ended. Cat 2 outside and cat 1 inside because cat 1 pins are supposed to be closer together than cat 2.

But the last time I wanted to do that with a cultivator and a rotary hoe, I got out my little Atlas lathe and made some pins. I've a bigger tractor too now and took those out but I'm not sure where they are. I turned them from stress proof steel. That was hard on the lathe.

1 1/8 thread by 7/8 pin are also available, but you probably will have to order them from a tractor dealer. I hardly ever sold them but I kept them on the shelf.

Before you get any farther, look at the distance between pins - a cat 2 hitch is a little wider than a cat 1. The cat 1 lift arms may not spread far enough apart to mount the implement.

I get around this problem of the arms not being wide enough between them by turning the pins around and having the arms connect on the inside of the frame of the implement.

Very, very easy fix. First, Get the kind of pin that has a long amount of threads. Drill a 3/4 inch hole in the piece of quarter inch flat iron... two for each pin. Then, weld these plates over the bigger hole on each side of the hole, then install your pin.

So the 1 1/8 cat 2 thread does come with the 7/8 cat 1 pin.

While I could weld and drill a plate or just weld the wrong size thread to the bracket it just seems a whole lot eaiser to get the correct part.

I will call my local dealer Monday and see if he can order me 2 of them.

Thanks

John, my solution would be to get the pin you need, if hole in impliment is larger than the pin is, then find apeace of pipe the pin will fit in snugley, and cut it a tiny bit shorter than the metal and cut it so the the pin will not waller around and tighten good and tight, might call for a good flat washer, lock washer, and lock nut.
