Skid steer Questions

I have an older mustang skid steer. When working with the skid steer when the gas motor cuts out and im working on any type of slope the skid steer woll take off and rool. It sounds like the chains are jumping but after taking the side covers off there is no chain slipage and it seems that the sound is coming from the hydraulic motor itself. The control valve is in the neutral position. Should the hydraulic motor be able to rotate with the machine shut off. Thanks for your help

Hydraulic motors offer very little in the form of braking when they dont have oil flow to them. I'm not familiar with your machine so I dont know the braking system on it, but any skid-steer when parked on an incline if it does not have some form of mechanical brake applied will eventually roll away, most times it does not happen fast but it will happen.

The action of the wheels to roll downhill is forcing the motors to turn and pushing oil out of them and since no pressurized oil is returning to them the motor begins to free-wheel.

Watched an old 330 roll down a hill and into the side of a truck once. Steep hill and got moving pretty good. Yea, they'll roll.
