Oil Question

Just moved back to the country, bought a ford 1510 and began wondering how to know when the oil is low in this thing and how much it takes?

Can you help?

Also, is there a basic operating manual that can be purchased to tell me these things for the ford 1510?

thanks for helping out this city boy gone country.

on the top left of this page is a column titled marketplace, just under that , click on tractor manuals. they have the operators manual and the i and t shop manual available thru this site. real good reference material.

Make a visit to the nearest NewHolland dealer (Ford became NewHolland) with any and all questions you can think of.

While there get a new oil filter and some quality oil and change it, it may have been quite a while since it was done. Check the air filter and maybe buy one of those also. The desk guys will be happy talking to you longer if you are buying something and filters and oil are things you need anyway, if not now then definately later.

There's a thing called a dipstick for checking oil level. If it's not there, you'll know it's low on oil when it starts making strange noises and then siezes. The other questions make a little more sense. It shouldn't be hard to get a manual and a dealer or someone on here can probably tell you how much oil it takes. Dave

Hey, give me a break. There's not a dip stick on this thing and a visual inspection doesn't reveal much. I suppose I could drain it all out, measure it, and pour it back in. :)

Sometimes there is no dipstick, but there may be caps you screw off, or plugs you remove to add while you watch another plug hole until it runs out etc. You need to go to the Co-o and bring some old guys there a coffee and donut and maybe if you are lucky they can come out to the house with you and line you out before you are seriously hurt or seriously damage property by something you may not see... No offense meant but any machinery that is foreign to you can kill you quick especially if you are not familiar with it...

i cant hardly believe there isnt a dipstick or plug somewhere.
you talking engine oil, hyd oil, rear end or all?
If your trying to tell us the engine doesnt have a dipstick, take afore mentioned advice, sell the tractor and move back to town
