O/T feeble excuses

Unless you need them to drive a tractor.

I was in a place where they suposedly [After a n exam and buying their frames] could order any style glass- plastic lense.

I had a very little used frame from a second pair as extra glasses that was bought from same company 2 yrs before, and I just needed them to fill a priscription. answer was they no longer had that style or the size, shape may not fit these frames as they were old style frames. {Two years old???]

They were willing to sell me a new frame almost the same for $159.00 and would fill the priscription.

I can't figure the cost of the frames is so high or the lenses when you can get a pair of reading glasses for under $20.00 with a reasonably good frame.

I did pay the $159+priscription come to $238.00
and donated a new old pair of glasses to the local Lions club.---Just Ranting

Look on the net or in the local yellow pages for a payless optical. $59 for single vision $79 for bifocals. They give you the frames (they deal in over stocks but they always have some nice ones in stock

You can mail order glasses with your prescription. I did it from these folks, and I have great CHEAP glasses.

Ya they are in the frame business not lenses..

My eye doctor does everything on site and just had him put new lenses in a couple frames that are at least 10 years old.

I don't worry too much about frames. I don't wear glasses but my wife does. She has never had a set of glasses where the frames were still serviceable after the prescription changed. She does all sorts of things to them.

Last spring she got a new set and we sprang for the the top of the line frames which you can twist any which way and they still spring back to the original position. Well, half a dozen months later, they are still in excellent condition. I don't know how these frames are made, but they sure are impressive.

And yes, I also have noticed that frame styles sure seem to change rapidly.

I have to put up with the same BS every time my perscription changes too. I tell the lady at the counter I bought these glasses here & I'm not buying new frames till the old ones fall apart. The lenses are only guaranteed 6 months anyway. About 5 months later I come back & get lenses replaced for free because they're usually scratched by then. I get the feeling the lady at the counter doesn't like me too much. Of course, it probably helps that I'm 6'5" tall & about 370 lbs. when these situations arise. I almost always get my way. Not too many people argue with me. :)

I had a friend who worked in one of those places that make your glasses in an hour. He said they have all the lenses in stock, just cut them to fit the frame. Try taking the prescription to one of them instead of getting them from the optometrist (who probably orders them from the other place anyway).
