OT - Old Grain Trucks

Anyone out there have a vintage grain truck, like 40's or 50's era? I think straight, original old trucks like that are incredible. I've been casually looking for one, just to add to the collection and drive around town. If anyone knows of one in the Michigan area, let me know!

I don't know if my brother still has his or not. Seems like it was about a 48 Ford, ton and a half. No hoist. Nice old truck. I'm thinking it came from out west somewhere and his father in law drove it home. Mid Michigan. Drop me an email I guess and I can give you his number.

I sold a 2 TON Chev about 3 Months ago for $550 As that was best offer. Big trucks just don't bring much in my neck of the woods. Just about brought scrap price. Was all orignal except had been changed to 12 volt. Ran good and was had a 12' flat bed dump . also had all all orignal standerds for side boards. I tried selling over internet but all I got was the Some one from a trying scam me.

We got a old Ford, I think a '47 or '48 with a grain bed on it. I remember riding in it when I was little then about 15 years ago my brother-in-law and I got it running again. Parked it after that and has been in the shed always. Good clean and straight. Been thinkin about selling it a few times. Just south of Niles if ya want to look at it.

Don't have anything to sell, but in the '80's and early '90's I had a 1948 Dodge farm truck. I repainted it, kept it nice, and drove it in parades on occasion. Underneath it all, it was still a working farm truck.

Once when we were lined up for a parade, waiting for it to start, a doctor was in front of me with a professionally restored powder blue '56 Cadillac. When he was looking my truck over, I commented I'd hauled many a load of hogs with the old gal. He was horrified that someone would haul hogs in a parade vehicle.

It had a happy ending. I was the fourth owner, and the three previous owners all lived within ten miles of me. When I quit farming and sold the truck on an auction, the original owner's son bought it back. I saw it the other day and it still looks good.

It's not the nicest looking truck but the history behind it. The local Case tractor dealer used to own it. It has the cream top and the red flamebeau on bottom it is a 1953 dodge with the fluid drive. That would need some work. The seal went out and dad just welded some blocks to hold it from turning and been that way since. I don't know if he would sell it or not but just setting in the shed for last 15 years.

These don't bring much in Central Missouri. I see real nice ones from $2500 to $4000. I'd look around. Sounds like lots of offers to sell right here. Good Luck.

Just in case you haven't seen it, there's a "Classic Trucks" forum right here on this website...lotsa interesting truck-related conversation there. Good luck in your search- I always like to see the old trucks still running around.

I bought a '47 Dodge pickup a couple months ago and am working on getting a '47 Dodge grain truck.
They were purchased new by the same farmer here in central Michigan.
Yeah...I like them too!
