I need to get directions to a place.... I try MapQuest... It wasn't the best ... wondering .. What do you use ?? Don't say a map thing in the car .... I don't have one ..
THANKS... Mark

I like yahoo maps better than mapquest. As the other Dave said Google is good too, but I have had better luck with Yahoo.

Good luck.

John,
Only trouble is: it is a program that may already be outdated by
the time you purchase and install, sort of like paper maps 2years
old and they may not have all the new roads. The on line maps
some times have construction warnings, alternate routing,etc..

I prefer Yahoo maps.

As an Insurance Inspector, I'm called upon daily to locate and inspect houses in towns I haven't even been in before. I live by Yahoo maps.

Our company website has a link to a Google map on each inspection that's posted, and they're OK, but when planning a day with multiple destinations, Yahoo works much better.

Last Friday, I planned my day in advance with seven destination towns. Yahoo maps showed a total of 513 miles. When I arrived home in the evening, my trip odometer showed--513 miles.

Good friend is also an insurance inspector. She can drive 2 hours, locate 10 to 15 properties in that area, and drive back home and have time to spare. Uses a TomTom. I use a Garman street pilot. I haven't looked at a paper map since I bought the thing. For $169 you will earn it back in savings of time and fuel in 6 months.

That's if you travel much.

hope the place you're looking for is in the city because Mapquest and others can be off by 10 miles in the country. That has happened to me when people try to find my farm & it's not even remote.

I use Micrsoft Streets and Trips 2008 on my laptop in the car. I got the version with a GPS locator and then put it in voice mode to give me directions as I drive. I use a small inverter plugged into the cigarette lighter to power the laptop. About $120 and is not tied to the car.

Need directions to go somewhere? Well, then you should try using The Route Planner to plan your drive! It’s really easy to use and not only does it give you directions, but it shows you your route side by side with the directions. Let"s see what we"ve got!

To get started, type in your starting address at the top of the page and then the address you want to plan a route for. Next, choose the language you want from the drop down box. The default is English, but the other languages include: French, German, Japanese and Spanish. After you’ve selected a language, all you need to do is click on the Get Directions button.

It will then generate directions to your destination, side by side with a map showing you the route. You can view the map in three different ways. The default is Map and it looks like a regular map you’d see in an Atlas. Your next option is Satellite, which looks like the satellite weather maps you see on TV. My favorite option is Hybrid, which is a combination of the two. You get both a regular map and a satellite map together!

This is a great tool for planning the route to your next destination. Check it out!

Used to be if I went somewhere one time I could return 5 years later, no sweat. Now almost forget where I live. Stay young.

None better than maps.live.com It is a microsoft product and it is outstanding. Friend bought a new house and wanted to show me - so we looked at it in the 'birds eye view' and with that angle we could actually see the builders equipment in the open garage at the time the photo was taken. Reasonably recent photos and right on address location.
