Had a Sheltie that used to do that when we were stationed in Japan. We were way up North, LOT of snow.

We'd open the back door and she'd get a running start through the kitchen, banzai off the back porch and tear all over the back yard using her nose as a snowplow.

Being a longhaired dog, she'd come back in looking like a snowball with legs.

That's kinda like our miniature Aussie. She LOVES snow. She burrows in it with her nose, jumps into the snow banks and just has a great time outside. Sometimes she gets so pre-occupied playing in ths snow that she forgets to do her business.
