Torque Topper

Does anyone remember the torque toppers used in the 60's and 70's on tractors. I have a MM 100hp naturally aspirated diesel with a Roosa Master pump. I do quite a bit of plowing with it for fun and for pay. I have been pulling 4-16" with it but in the 'ol black gumbo it realy could use a little more. I know alot of the old farmers around here used them on Deere 4020's and some others. I have a 30 gal LP tank laying around to use. If all else fails it may be a good conversation piece for plow days. I know there was a brand called the Red Rooster. Are these still available? Does anyone have a used one around? Any diagrams? Thanks for the help.

You will be o.k. with one if you don't get carried with turning up the gas. We had a customer that had one on a 4020 and another on a 4520. The 4520 blew the #5 piston right out the side of the block.Burned the 4020 up also. Sold both tractors to a salvage yard. You just had to know the guy. Then he bought a D21 with a 903 Cummins in it. Tore all the gears out except 7th. So he plowed in 7th.

Petrolane also had one. Not much to them , a pressure regulator, a nozzle that went into the intake manifold and a switched valve.

Truckers Magazines, the free ones that you find
at truck stops, with ads for used trucks, and
services, have ads for something like that for
over the road diesel trucks. A slight amount of
propane, says the ads, makes the engine run
smother and increases mileage.
