NH manure spreader

Dear Lads
Today I was out spreading manure with my case dc4 and my NH 516 manure spreader I looked back to see the two wheels bent in on the spreader. It only had a small load of horse dropings that was not frozen so I looked under to see no axel but a rusted out piece of sheet metal. How do I fix it? I can not junk the spreader because I just put in new chains, tires, and rebuilt the gearbox about two years a go. Also I just got it back from my brother and I need to use it. So please help
Matt

We had a # 518 spreader do the same . I had a local welding shop build a new axle using heavy wall 6 inch square tubing. I sold it to a friend , but I can make some drawings of how I wanted the welder to build it. Reply if interested.

Very common problem with a NH. Local shop does the same kind of fix that Weldon says. Problem is caused by NH using formed sheet metal in a 'U' shape, top being open and collects liquid draining through the floor, etc. Too thin, rusts out, and wheels cave in. Local shop flips the spreader upside down, replaces with heavy wall square tube. Easiest way to work on them.
