How do you folks deal with it?????? It's been around 10 and 20 here in my little piece of the world and that is really cold. Supposed to get closer to the freezing mark again next week and hopefully not get so cold again.

ya I think we are getting an old fashion wisconsin winter, they have been fairly mild the last few years, maybe we will get a early spring for a change, I'm sick of winter already .I'm in northwest wisconsin. where abouts you from?

Haven't you guys hear about global warming?

Where have you been?

The glaciers are melting, we are all going to roast in our own juices!!! The sky is falling!!!

I'm way down in east central. About 40 miles west of Green Bay. Not so bad here. It'll only be about 25 below. (;>))

Yep, and we're scheduled to castrate and de-horn 112 calves tuesday or wednesday. I think I might just wear my mittens.

I'm not too old to remember doing that very same thing. We had nice warm barns in those days. Not so bad. Just sold my last cattle barn built in 1895. It went to California, (LA) to become part of a bar, restaurant or movie star's home, which I don't know and don't care. It's gone. Put up a new Morton 60x88x16 machine shed. Just do corn and soybeans now. Plant in May, harvest in Oct-Nov. One paycheck.

You must be talking Celcius? (sp??) It was cold at first, but now I'm used to it. 5 degrees outside feels pretty nice to me... 20 is a heat wave and I'm in a light sweatshirt.

Once spring rolls around and it hits 40 (okay 35), I'm driving with the windows rolled down. 25 below will for sure be cold though. Might have to zip up my jacket.

Funny thing is, my former high school is hosting the 11th annual Cheesehead wrestling tournament this weekend. Started tonight, continues tomorrow. IN the past the team from Yuma AZ. came up a few times (their coach is from here), and this year there's a team from Florida. Welcome to the North....

I'll be down in FL. this May...

Most of the calves are polled, but some end up growing horns. Less than a third of all the calves I would guess. We'd band them at birth, but the cows are out on pasture when they calve and a few hours after birth, a healthy calf is really hard to catch. Fast little buggers!
