NEED HELP metal building

i found a metal building today in the paper for 7700 bucks. it is a u.s. steel metal building, 30x36, curved arch roof, opened ended. and it is brand new the guy just never bothered to put it up. anybody know the price of one of these things new? do yall think this is a good deal?

sounds high to me. I know in 2000 a 30 x 40 was $5400 endwalls included and it was NOT easy to put up. First arch is like spagetti, doesn't start having any rigidity till the 3 or 4th arch is added. 6000 bolts. Cannot tighten them till whole building is up (finger tighten only) then later have one guy on top and one underneath tightening ONE at a time. They adverstse "build it over a weekend" YA RIGHT! I will be honest with you, I will never put one of those up again. I have seen many many old ones that are sturdy. Those newer ones especially from the company you mentioned are thin and kinda flimsy. And you said open ended meaning you have to build your own endwalls? I would pass or offer him about half what he wants. If he has any sense, he will take any offer to cut his losses.

I'm with railhead on that one. Put a couple more bills with it and you could have a nice building with a warranty. I'd say no more than half the asking price is what it is worth.

Deals like that sometimes have crucial pieces missing, lost or stolen after the original purchase. Be aware.

Ga farmer, I'm in Ga also, and in the Proces of doing just what You're doing, Those People from Carolina carports are a real pleasuer to deal with, I'm with the other Guys on the Missing parts, You can get messed up on that...And a Misconception I had I thought You could get better deals from One versus the other ( on the Same brand) But, No Go, The only "Deal" is if the dealer is willing to cut HIS Percentage, And You KNOW how that went over! Beat of luck.. Larry KF4LKU

We bought one about 4 years ago. $6900.00 including shipping to AR., and it was 41X60. Got it straight from the company. They manufactured it for the airforce, then the airforce decided they didn't want it. We got it for the difference that was owed on it. But that really only saved us about $2000.00. So I would say the price is kinda high. Like has been said, they are a real pain to erect, but they are really sturdy once up. Use mine for round bale storage.

I bought a 30X40 with both end and roll up door delivered for $8700. This was in 2007, if you are going to get a permit to install make sure you can still get certified drawings.

Let me tell you how this works, after you agree to buy the building then they want you to buy the Z mounting pad the bolts to the concrete. trust me you want it, it will save hours(lots of hours) and you will need the concrete before you put up the building. It took 10 of us 4 days to put it up and I had all of the panels bolted together before hand. Mine is a US Building 40X60X16I paid 10,500.00. Buy the time I paid for the spechal U shaped footing I would have been better of with their Z pad, plus the way I did it it had to be morted in and one bag of mix filled one and one half ribs.(there is a rib every 24in)mail is open

I think it is about double what it's worth. I have a 50X80 USBuilding. Put it up in 2003, took 5 of us 10 days to put it up and then I worked by myself for 2 weeks after work putting the ends in. What are you going to use the building for? I use mine for machinery storage and shop. Awful hard to drive a nail in the side wall to hang a shelf on! If you close it up it will collect moisture and then rain inside when it warms up. Go around and find guys who have a building like that in your area and ask them if they would have another one. I'll bet over 75% will say NO. Like a guy told me after I bought mine, Everyone needs to put one of those up, and you'll NEVER do it again!! Go to USB website and check price of a new one that size. If it has been laying outside for a couple years, you might have issues with water getting between the sheets in the stack and rusting, discoloration issues, missing bolts or pieces. You would probably be better off with one of those canvas hoop buildings for that price. My thoughts. Chris

Go to a local lumberyard and price out a post frame building kit of similar size. I think you'll find you can get a lot more building for the money going with post frame. And you can easily add doors, windows, insulation, etc. I bought my kit from Carter Lumber.
