I think it's called 'Immaculate Deception'. Did she get into strange drugs? Seriously, I don't know about the dog, but researchers actually did get dairy bulls to give milk by using drugs on them to develop productive mammary glands.

Its called a false pregnancy, or atleast that's what the vet told my wife. Vet also says to either breed or fix-er.

FWIW....Our beagle, about 3y.o. female, has been bringing her squeak toys into her bed. Has done this twice a year since we've had her.

Have fun.....don t. .....

Kinda like a false pregnancy/ hormone thing....... . There was a thing on TV last Sunday about a dog that would keep baby squirrels and a couple of kittens warm. The owners were bottle feeding the babies but leaving them with the dog for cleaning and heat. The dog started making milk and nursed everything.

We had a dog like that she eventually came down with breast cancer. Was not pretty. Felt really bad for her as she had led a rough life before we got her. Hated Mexicans but not others I think she had a bad experience with a Mexican neighbor that turned her off all of them even little kids.

Yep false pregnancy ,
about 40 years ago,I had a Collie do that once for a half grown cat.
every day I'd come and smack the cat with a paper while it was drinking. It got used to that idea then it would wait till I was in the house and there it would be back to it again.
One day I had enough and went out grabbed that cat by the scruff of the neck, next thing I knew somehow it flipped over and all at once I had all 40 needles implanted in my arm, and she had a mouth full of thumb knuckle. OK I thought,--- time for flying lessons, so I threw it across the lawn in a very fast horizontal spinning motion kinda like a furry Frisbee with all fours fully extended. and tail trying to get a sense of balance. just when still off the ground it started to run. and being dizzy couldn't maintain balance for a short time.never worked on the dog again and the dog dried up never again to Mother a cat.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!--- Im gonna get it now !!

Hey Old,
Looks like you dont need a veterinarian afterall.
The couple of folks have it right, false pregnancy. Has to do with horomones and whatnot. Ill sometimes use an estrogen medication to put the lactation into submission for breeding animals but a spay is the best "cure" to prevent it from happening again and does eliminate the possibility of future cancers that can show up due to reproductive parts. Hope it helps coming from an "authority." Thanks, Dave JD Tractor owner and Veterinarian practicing for past six years.
