Fertilizer Prices by the bag

I can"t believe bagged fertilizer prices this year. I don"t use a lot of fertilizer, so I usually just buy 5 or so bags a year. This year the phosphate has been eliminated, and the bags are even smaller than last year.
Example: last year 8-8-8 was 40 lbs for around $6.
This year 8-0-8 for 33lbs and pricing is 9.94 a bag.
Why have phospates been removed? Anyone know? Was it a cost reducer, a govnmt mandate?

13-13-13 fertilizer in 50 lb bag is $17.50. that is the cheapest i found in my area of se texas. some as high as $21.00/50lb and not even in stock. absolutely crazy prices.

When I worked in a fertilizer plant in the 1990's those 50lb plastic bags cost the farmers .50 each Thats $20 a ton just for bags. Buy your fert in bulk if possible.

One dealer was getting 19.50 for 50 lb 10 10 10.I found some in a 40 lb bag for 9.69.Back when I used more ton lots in bags cost less.You can often buy off season at a lower price,ask.Fertilizer doesnt cake in plastic bags.Ive kept some over winter with no problem.
