Bronze bearings- To grease, or not to grease.

I am rebuilding a magneto for my tractor (Sorry for the on topic post), and was wondering what you guys recommend for the bronze bearings in it. Should I assemble it with a coating of grease, oil, or leave it dry. It is on the dry side of the magneto, sealed from the engine oil.

Just looking for some opinions.
Thanks.

Soak the bushings in clean motor oil before installing and let oil drip off and can still add a light coating of white lithium grease but not enough it's going to be slinging all over. Regular gun grease is just going to make a mess inside slinging off.

If you use "oilite", oil impregnated bronze
bearings, grease will plug up the pores and
render them non effective, espiecially the ones
using a small oil cup, where you lift a cap to
occasionally add a drop of oil. "oilite" bushings
are factory impregnated with oil, and hold their
lube ability for a long time.
I can't comment on solid bronze or brass bushings
which must surely need some type of lube.

I am not expert, but have always given things like this a light coat of white lithum grease when installing.

Again, just what I do, not saying it's right.

Here's a trick a old fellow showed me about luding those bronze bushings. Get you a squirtcan with some motor oil in it and stand the bushing up on your thumb, now take the squirtcan and fill the bushing plum full sitting on your thumb, now take tour index finger and place it over the open end of the oil filled bushing, now squeeze your thumber and index finger with your other hand and it will force the oil through the sides of the bushing, now the all the voids in the bushing material is full of oil. This WillNot work on brass bushings
