J.D.1010 Diesle Fuel pump timing?

I took my Rosa master pump out and looked at it and put it back in and it never started again. My book says I can static time it with a window tool that lets me see where the cam mark is or I can just move the pump body to time it a little? any one know? Thanks, Phil

You don't use the window tool to static time it - it's used to check the timing advance with the engine running.

Static timing is checked by pulling the metal door off the side of the pump (where the tool would go if used). You will see two lines inside that opening and they line up when the pump is in fire position. If you only see one line, the pump is not in fire position.

Thanks alot now I just have to roll the engine until I see the D/C line on the side of the flywheel through the door hole and when it lines up I can check in the window slot on the pump and see if the lines line up ? Right?

Ok Good becausewhen I roller the engine to D/C the line was no where to be found maybe it comes around twice once on exaust and once at fire and I looked at it on exaust and found no mark and need to turn it again and hope to come around again to find it. I took it out once and cleaned out crap from the screen and maybe put it in wrong . Can it go in 180 out ? I thinkf it can it looks not of set but straight accross the drive slot as one guy asked eariler Thanks ,Phil

Hey Msb thanks for asking but if it is off set then I couldn't but it in wrong ? right? I can/t se the line to static set it may be I need to go around again? there is a 26 mark too?

Tractor Guru If that fly wheel has a 26 on it does that mean it came out of a Gas model? The guy who had it before had a gas andf put this diesle in it maybe he mixed them? Any way it ran great before I ran it out of fuel then took the Roosa pump out it had a red pice of plastic blocking the in line at the screen I put it backl in ( maybe 180 out) so now I out new linersand plate rings and bearingss in it an head job it should run great once I solve the pump issue. John, Roosas as used by Case had a dot on the end of the driveshaft lug that was to be matched with a dot on the internal part of the pump. Are JDs set up that way as well? mEl
