OT Look at what Micky D's is doing now.

ot this as a forward. Not real computer literate, so just going to copy and paste it. Have no real proof either way just know 2 people who sent it to me. So take it for what you will.

If McDonald's starts this other fast food chains are sure to follow.

THIS IS A GOOD DECENT MAN WHO TOOK THE TIME TO WRITE THIS AND HE SIGNED THE STATEMENT AND INCLUDED HIS CONTACT INFO

I'm sure those of you who aren't in the cattle business don't understand the issues here. But to those of us whose living depends on the cattle market, selling cattle, raising the best beef possible... this is frustrating.

This will keep us from ever stopping there again, even for a drink.

The original message is from the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. American cattle producers are very passionate about this.

McDonald's claims that there is not enough beef in the USA to support their restaurants. Well, we know that is not so. Our opinion is they are looking to save money at our expense. The sad thing of it is that the people of the USA are the ones who made McDonald's successful in the first place, but we are not good enough to provide beef.

We personally are no longer eating at McDonald's, which I am sure does not make an impact, but if we pass this around maybe there will be an impact felt.

Please pass it on. Just to add a note:

All Americans that sell cows at a livestock auction barn had to sign a paper stating that we do NOT EVER feed our cows any part of another cow. South Americans are not required to do this as of yet.

McDonald's has announced that they are going to start importing much of their beef from South America . The problem is that South Americans aren't under the same regulations as American beef producers, and the regulations they have are loosely controlled.

They can spray numerous pesticides on their pastures that have been banned here at home because of residues found in the beef. They can also use various hormones and growth regulators that we can't. The American public needs to be aware of this problem and that they may be putting themselves at risk from now on by eating at good old McDonald's.

American ranchers raise the highest quality beef in the world and this is what Americans deserve to eat. Not beef from countries where quality is loosely controlled. Therefore, I am proposing a boycott of McDonald's until they see the light.

I'm sorry but everything is not always about the bottom line, and when it comes to jeopardizing my family's health, that is where I draw the line.

I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you? Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

Thanks for the info. I will pass this on.

I dont eat anything from there other then the Ice cream. My son eats the chicken nugget by products. (their hamburgers are just slop in my opinion) The best fast food is Arby's hands down. Wendys is so-so, Burger king is always filled with idiot minorities working there and cant fill an order.

thanks for the information, i dont eat at mc donalds as the last few times i did their food made me extreamly sick, but i'll make sure the family dont eat there either, i wonder what highly educated idiot thinks the usa cant supply enough beef for their restarunts, must have never been to texas or wyoming or nebraska ect, heck he has probably never been west of the mississippie river

This is years old news. McD has been importing beef from Argentina for years. They claim its for flavor, probably its because its low grade and therefore cheap beef with no fat to catch fire in their cooking apparatus or to go rancid in their storage equipment. They want stressed poor quality grass fed beef.

But this is old news.

I got it from 2 people that I know, and seen the guy signed it with his name and contact info so figured it legit. With the country of orgin labling deal, although that doesnt pertain to ground beef.

Around here TAYLOR PACKING is the biggest buyer on the east coast for DOWNED HOLESTIEN for there Big Macs. mickyDs says on the wrapper 100% BEEF. Well milk cows are beef, but,,,,,, Id rather see angus or hereford beef used.

a friend e-mailed it to me fowarded to everyone in my inbox as if we dont have enough problems with the layoffs in are country and all.

I've heard the same basic info that is posted on snopes.
They've been importing lean beef from NZ for years. I beleive it's holstein steer beef if I'm not mistaken, but leanness was the primary reason.
I discovered that bit of information while reading about grass fed beef.
Anyone that thinks that grass fed beef is inferiour hasn't spent much time researching the subject. There are certain ways of making it work. They may not work in our climate, but they do work in Argentina and NewZeland.
It's not a matter of kicking the cows out on pasture and waiting until they get big. There's a system to it, and a very strict system that tehy follow to maintain their growth rates, get their marbeling and then finish.... and their grade.
When I look at what's involved with it I doubt it's much cheaper than our confinement system either. It's just a different idelogy.
It's funny how people around here like to preach about the market always being right... when it agrees with their beliefs, and when it doesn't, condemn it all to hell.

I encourage everyone to go to www.snopes.com and
type in "Mcdonalds beef" and you'll get the whole
story on this. It's not that it's false...it's just there is more to the story than is reported
here.

"America raises the highest quality beef in the World"
There is a statement that cannot be
proven.A general assumption, which would be expected in this instance.

When I send cattle to market I must submit a National Vendor Declaration Form [NVDF] and my cattle must have an eartag which identifies the property where it was born.

The NVDF questions are..

Have any of the cattle been.........treated with hormone growth promotant [HGP]

Have these cattle been raised consistant with the rules of an independently audited QA [quality assurance] program on the property.

Were all the cattle born and raised on the vendors property,

In past 60 days have any... cattle been fed by-product stockfeeds.

In past 6 months have any....cattle been on a property ..........or placed under grazing restrictions because of chemical residue.

Are any cattle....still within a withholding period [whp] or export slaughter interval [esi] following any treatment with any Vet. drug or chemical.

In the past 60 days.........cattle consumed any stockfeed that was still within a WHP when harvested or first grazed.

In past 42 days were any cattle:
[a] grazed in an endosulfan spray risk area,
fed fodder cut from endosulfan spray drift risk area.

Wonder what happens down south???
check your burgers, you might see a southern cross.

Same story has been pushed for at least 20 years. If I remember right, McDonalds uses leaner beef than the market rewards in the US, so they mostly use dairy-type breeds. Not a shortage of beef, just the right type of beef.

Yeah, it says "made with 100% American beef". Well, yeah, if it's only 5% american beef, with 5% Argentinan beef, 85% soy, and 5% preservatives, it's still MADE with 100% American beef. See how that "made with" opens a whole lot of options for them to mix and match?

It's like their "premium" salads with up to 26 kinds of lettuce. I take that as meaning they don't even know for sure what's in it.

WAS AWAY FROM MC D'S FOR MANY YEARS, SO BOUGHT A BIG MAC, WAS DISSAPOINTED IN THE SMALL SIZE OF THE MEAT, BUT ALOT OF BREAD.. FELT KINDA SICK AFTER EATING IT TOO.. LUCAS

It's semantics...100% American Beef can be North American beef, Central American beef or South American beef or any combination thereof.
