StJohns Mi to Winter Haven Fl

Was driving a Taurus and had frost on the side windows front and back all the way down to mid KY. There was snow on the ground down to TN and was just a dusting at the southern TN end. No snow in GA that I could see. I75 all the way from Toledo OH to the Florida Turnpike where went over to US27.

Stayed in the great motel in your fair city enjoyed the flowers and old stuff. We were at the Red Power shhow. Got to come back there again as i hear another big show planned this summer those guys do a good job.

Last time I was In Fla from MI was 9 yrs ago. Stopped in Winterhaven and there was an abandoned IH Dealership. The sign was still standing and there was a lot of small stuff around the bldgs mostly small, cub and cub cadet. I snooped around. I would have liked to buy the IH sign but was in the car. Also was suffering from my first case of food poisoning.:) Is it still there?

Small world. I posted to Dave"s jokes earlier about Fla and retirees. I moved to Winter Haven from N. Florida (High Springs) for my company and worked there for about seven years (nice place, glad to be back home). Went through one wife and two houses. I was there yesterday at our office, it was pretty cold, some citrus damage. 20 years ago, Us 27 was nothing but groves from the turnpike to I-4, nothing but houses now. The bad freezes have kept moving further and further south in our state, dead groves replaced by developments. So much for global warming. Lot"s to do there Cypress Gardens, the Chain of Lakes (around a dozen lakes connected by canals, you can visit several cities nearby by boat)

Been coming down here since I got married 24 years ago. Stay with the bro in law, wife helps him at his flower shop "The Fantasy Shop" in Winter Haven. I do misc repairs around and take a vacation in between. Wifes parent over winter in Lakeland 20 miles from here so do things for them too. Tired of the Disney stuff.

JBMac, when I first started coming down here there oranges everywhere. Now there are orange trees in yards and parking lots. The US27 corridor I cant belive how fast it has grown. Subdivisions everywhere. I'll be glad to get home again. Around here if it isnt town it's a lake or swamp.
