HYDRALIC TAC PROBLEM

my father inlaw has a 800 ser ford tractor that I WAS USING THE BLADE ON TO REMOVE SNOW WITH AND THE HYDRALIC WENT OUT THE TAC WENT AT THE SAMETIME I PULLED THE HYDRALIC PUMP THE GEAR IN THE ENGINE WILL FREE WHEEL AND THEN STOP HAS ALOT OF PLAY FROM RIGHT TO LEFT OR FRONT TO BACK IS THIS NORMAL PLEASE HELP TRYING TO GET IT BACK UP AND RUNNING FOR THEM.

sounds like you need to take the timing cover off the front of the engine and see what broke.

if the engine kept running when this happened,then i would suggest that the camshaft broke behind the distributor,oil pump drive gear.if it kept firing on all four then the gear may be loose on the camshaft.the hyd. pump may have locked up to cause this.
