Farm Equipment loans and grants

Can you get a loan to get some used hay equipment or a grant for it. If so what is a good one to go with. Thanks
 
Well I have friends and credit at the bank. So I would just ask. I don't know where you set. If you are looking for something for nothing, Sorry buddy, it don't work that way.
 
As I recomended to guy down the board earlier, I recomend the Farm Service Agency. Most others didn't seem to care for them, but I've had loans with them in the past, and I'm in the process of taking out a smaller loan as we speak. My local office has some really good people in it and they've really worked with me. I also have excellent credit and can go to just about any bank or lending institution and get money, I just get better rates thru the FSA office.

As of March, operating loans, which include equipment and livestock purchases, will have an intrest rate of 2 percent for a 7 year loan. I don't know anywhere else that will touch that. Now one thing a lot of people don't like is they do kinda get up in business a little....meaning they want a clear business plan, will due farm survey's, and want a clear picture of your profitibility. If you can make enough off the farm to make the loan payment, you don't get the loan, period.
 
That if you're looking for grant money, you're probably S.O.L., and if you due happen to find someone givin' away money, you be sure and let the rest of us know who it is...
 
When you go to church, and the basket comes around, just Grant yourself a loan, but be sure to sit in the back so the basket will be Full...

I have a small loan with the FSA, but I won't do it again. They are not good to deal with. If I need to borrow money for farming in the future, I will use Farm Credit. They are a co-op and are spoken of very highly. I read articles about people getting grants, but they all have some qualifications that I was not born with.
 
Sure it does, just ask Juan. He can climb the Texas fence and draw Social Security without ever having paid anything in.
