I know it's a little newer than we normaly talk about but I read about this on another site and thought I'd ask yall about this. What do you all think a 47 hour 4440 will bring? Any of yall going to be there? Just seemed pretty wild. Machinery Pete is going to be there with a film crew. I am going to try to get some one that gets RFDtv to tape it for me incase I can't find it online. Have a good'n!

(Oh and my guess is $45,000 won't bring it home.)

Dave
4440 with 47 hours.

Check past threads as that's already been discussed. Very unlikely for a JD 4440 to only have that low ACTUAL hrs!!!!!!!!! Plus IIRC tractor appears to have more like 10047 hrs.

Sullivan auctioneers wouldnt advertise it with 47 hours if there was any doubt at all. In additon the neighbors confirm the story and there are some guys who have went and looked at it. They all say you have to see it to believe it. It only has 47 hours and is just like new. I'm not to far from Hamilton so I hope to get away friday and go to the sale and see for my self. The other 4440's are not even close to this condition but the grain truck and combine are also very very pristine condition.

I suspect we will see record prices on that stuff. Thus proving the economy is still going along.

He must of done all his work with those 730 diesels ?

The only thing I question about the 4440 is the duals. It is listing as having factory duals.... Why don't they match the inside tires? All the tractors I have seen sold NEW with duals, the 4 rears tires are all matched. The inside tires appear to be Firestones and the out side tires appear to be B.F.G or Goodyear. Just my .02!

Lumpy, the tractor is for real. I have seen the tractor and it has Firestone ATFR tires for drivers and Goodyear tires for duals. The front tires still have tips on them. The story is that oil was found on this guy's place and part of the settlement was that he got a part of the revenue, and also got all this machinery and several hundred acres of ground to boot. Thus, the low hours. Mike

He must of been one heck of a good negotiator to work a deal like that with the oil companies.

I am not planing on going to the sale with the 4440 in it, I did google it and it's a little too much of a road trip for me. Pete will have the results posted next week. I would go if it was close but I don't have much of a chance on getting any thing real cheap at that one and it's too much of a road trip any way. I like the ones that are close to home and only take up half a day.

I am going to try to go to the big one in Mayfield the 14th. It takes more than half a day (some times two if I can't make it all fit on one load) but I normaly do pretty good at it. If I go, I'll try to get down there for lunch and catch the last 6 or 7 hours. I will find some one there I know that can tell me what the play pretties out front brought, the reserve on them is always out of my range any way.

Wish I had gone to both the ones in Owensboro last week, especialy Turner's sale just to see what his 8 4020 bought.

I just thought the one with the 4440 was a neat story but I guess it's old news.

The tractor is for real. The guy was basically no longer farming
when he got it.I'm guessing it at $75,000 and it will go in to a
collection.

if it only has 47 hours why is there green paint on the exhaust manifold ? maybey a little overspray? Also the front hubs should be green not yellow. I think it had a profesional paint job and a new tach installed. You could tell if tach is old style or new by looking at it.

Boys, Look at that GMC 7000 Twin-screw truck with only 4008 miles.....This old girl will go sky high. No 2 ways about it, from the pics she is right shiny.
Later,
John A.

With the economy the way it is, the only ones buying this tractor for $45,000.00 will be collectors. The days of getting TOP dollar for this kind of stuff are gone. The antique tractors and equipment will bring good money. Hopefully someone will post results.

Lots of executives that got bailout money may be looking for a place to spend all that money instead of the stack market ?

dieseldoc... last time i checked every original paint job the hubs are yellow on the rim side, but then maybe i'm color blind. food for thought.

I don't believe it. The yellow overspray on the axles, the green oil filter and what appears to be overspray on the tach cable, the green serial number plate, the changed either can. Very skeptical.

Mike, billonthefarm is from my area of the world, farmington IL. not sure on the miles, but I would say we are a good 1.5 hours from hamilton. just a guess.

you are wrong.4440 came off the show room floor with green hubs on the front and rear axles were black. My dad has two of them he bought new and never touched the paint.
