OT Car question

I have two, one I just rebuilt, one is a good used one. $200 for the good used, 300 for the rebuilt.

Don't listen to the guys that say you don't need one, the early corvairs used one water pump right in the middle, and from mid 63 up they used one water pump for each side. What year is the one you are working on?

Got mine from Autozone. Be sure and tell them it is a V-6, turbocharged, and is a 1956 model.

i havent heard that one in years, good joke, i once had a 63 corvair van[ the solid panel van, not the greenbriar], i had a kid at a gas station bent over that thing for 20 minutes looking for the upper radiator hose

Check fan belt and the bearing in the fan, Also Corvair engines have two thermostats that control air doors on the bottom of the engine on both cylinder banks. I had a guy, who was into air planes and Corvairs, claim the engine was made by Franklin. Also Franklin went broke in 1970 after Chevy stopped making the Corvair in 1969. He also said if you have a known Franklin Aircraft engine apart on the bench and a Corvair open on the bench at the same time they look a lot the same on the inside. He also said when Franklin went broke, new cylinder jugs disappeared for the Corvair.

Did you actually think a question like this would some how slip by all the old farts on this board?

I once heard that if you had a Harley motor cycle and needed a Valve lifter. You could swing by a junk yard and grab one out of a corvair.

Wish I had one of these cars.

Don't forget to remove the bolt that is inside of the pump housing. You can remove it after you remove the lower radiator hose. It takes a flex head torx wrench.

Drive it backwards a half mile or so for every mile you go forward. This will let some air hit the engine directly as it is in the back.

Don't leave this hanging. Is it air or water cooled, please. All I remember is the crazy fan belt going around the corners. Dave
