I don't know much about the Case application, but Shibaura makes some very good engines and tractors. Many of the Ford/New Holland tractors are Shibaura.

You may have heard of engine problems on those models. There is /was a recall on the headgaskets on them ,and should have been repaired under warranty. Check with the local dealer , its recorded in the system when the repair is made.I did 4 in L.A. 2 years ago. The engine is simple and reliable , just had a problem with the thickness of the gasket.

CNH has started a new recall on the head gasket. Yes, I said a new recall since January of 2009. Most of the previous units were a fix as they fail situation. The new recall is done at no cost to the customer. Other than that the machines have been fine.

Isn't a Shibaura very similar to a Perkins? Kind of a Japanese Perkins? I heard that somewhere, just curious. Dave
