I have a 2008 GMC Sierra and almost every time I get out I get shocked when I touch the door to close it. How can I eleminate this??

Thank you.....................

static electricity? stay in contact with the metal of the vehicle until you are out of the vehicle. better yet take someone with you and let them close it, just jokin. sounds like static elec. to me
just mumblin

put a ground strap on the truck, or change the type of fabric in your clothing, certain types of fabric will create static electricity when slid across the truck seat.
Ground strap will work though.
Have a snapping good day

Install a static strap that grounds the vehicle. The shock is probably caused by the combination of cloths you wear sliding across the material of the seat. If the vehicle is grounded it should not happen Henry

Install a nice set of leather seat covers. Stop touching the metal door. Close it with the door handle. Change to cotten undies, stop wearing silk.lol rw

something like this. Probably pick it up for a couple bucks at the parts store or truckstop.

My "96 Chevy zaps the @#$% out of me all the time. Especially if I happen to contact the screw that is in the bottom of the little pocket you use to close the door. Doesn"t matter what I wear. Sometimes get a zap when I put the key in the ignition.

I try to touch the back of my calf to the frame when I get out. Getting zapped there isn"t nearly as uncomfortable as on a finger tip.

Makes me crazy. My mechanic has a 96 and his does the same thing.

Cloth seats - static electricity - I hold the doorframe until my feet hit the ground. I only notice this in winter.

Can be dangerous at the gas pump too... Maybe the same odds as getting struck by lightning, but the danger is there. If you want to be necky about it, a section of heavy gauge wire (like a welding lead) skinned off on the end and bolted to the frame works just as good. Let it hand to about an inch off the ground. As you go over spots that make your car sag a little, the static will discharge.

I had a similar issue on a car 10 years ago and finally tracked it to my TIRES - at the time they were some really hard compound Khumos.

Happens to me too in "07 chevy. I also grab the metal door frame while I"m sliding out to avoid the shock. But, by the time I get to a door knob or store doore it gets me again! People look at me like I"m crazy when I slap at door handles to discharge. Luckily, it"s only in the winter when humidity is very low here in Florida.

Also Buy a Ford don't here those owners complaining. I have a 97 and never been bit my friends 2004 same thing no byte.

Make sure your foot hits the ground before you let go of the truck. If that doesn't do it smack the door.
