O/T New Work Boots

Well, the time has come to replace my boots, but after a little over 5 years I guess it is ok.

I would like to get some opinions for the most comfortable steel-toe waterproof work boot. I had Rocky's years ago and loved them, then I got a pair of Georgia boots, which beat the Rocky's, and now this pair of Georgia boots are horrible.

Also, I am hoping to keep them around $150.

Thanks
Scott

RedWing Boots and twice a year soak them with Snow-Seal..using a hair-dryer to melt it in thoroughly..
I am on a pair that are 35 years old and my cowboy-type boots are 24, with plenty wet/dry cycles long-haul in the winter..I still wear them to square dances...!!
Good Leather and Snow-Seal and they should be good for 40+ years..(with a sole or two)..
The Bees Wax in it really preserves the leather...!!

I am not a fan of John Deere tractors but I am of there boots. I bought the insolated water proof for winter. That makes the size a little snugg to start with but were warm and the snow didn't enter the inside. I am about to order another pair.
Most every body has the ones they like and sure are not the same. I have a hard to fit narrow foot with a narrow heal. Most boots floop some on me (slip up and down on the heal) these dont.

Red Wings, they stand behind their product better than anyone. Been wearing them for over 30 years. The tops rot off before the soles wear out.

Well, you won't get them for $150, but Hoffman's Dri-line lineman boots are by far the best boots I've ever had. The waterproofing is great, they do with 200 grams of insulation which is just warm enough for my winters, but I still can wear them in the summer. I climb in them every day and get 4 to 5 years out of them. Plus they're what I wear on the farm so they pull double duty, and outside of my Justin slip on that I just kick around in, they'll be the only boot I'll ever own. They also make other boots, hiking, hunting, winter pacs, and plain ol' work boots, but I've only had experience with their lineman boots.

Georgia boots s%ck!!!! had a waterproof pair called the company after they leaked (about 2months) they said you use them too much (8 to 10 hours 6 days a week!!! never will buy another pair!!

I just bought a second pair of Catepillar boots. the first pair is 5 years old and still going but nearly wore out

The absolute best pair of boots I have ever owned is what I wear all the time.....except to bed, and while taking a shower. Wolferine boots, $100 for a pair, not steel toed but so what. Camo pattern, super comfy.

I'll second the Caterpillar boots. They are all I wear. Of the different styles I've worn the Indiana style is my preference.

I've worn Red Wings for years...I think I'm gonna try Snap-On Tool boots this time..I haven't checked the price yet , but I'll bet some "sticker shock " will be in order.....

Get yourself a pair of Wolverine's, model/style #03711. These are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Their lined so they wick away moisture and they have 200 grams of Thinsulate which isn't so much that it makes your feet hot in the summer but it does a good job of keeping them warm in the winter and their waterproof. Wherever their made the pair I got a month or so back was like $140 with tax. I typically get at least a year and a half to two years out of a pair but mine stay coated in mud, grease, hydraulic oil, diesel fuel, and anything else you can think of a mechanics boots would come into contact with. Usually when I have to get a new pair it's because I've torn up the sole climbing in a piece of equipment, ratrely do the uoppers give out unless I put a hole in them over the steel toe.

I have had a couple pair of Redwings and liked them till this last
time. They didn't have the sole I wanted except for on a steel toed
one. I had a hard time getting a wide enough one that the steel
part didn't feel funny by my toes. The ones I did get just aren't as
comfortable as the last couple pair I had.

You can still buy a pair of Red Wings for under 150 bucks, but they will be Chinese imports. Made-in-the-US Red Wings start out well north of $200.

That said, Red Wings are the only shoes I can buy that actually fit. Even then, I have to special order as the local stores no longer stock narrow widths.

I can't believe no one has said Justin Workboots, I am on my 4th or 5th pair in about 15 years, and wear them everyday. The last pair that I got were still Made in USA, that I'm sure is subject to change. Jim

Absolute most comfortable boots I have ever worn are Redbacks. They are made in Australia, and available in several styles. I had sore feet and legs every day till I started wearing them. Matco tools sells them. They can also be bought on line, but seconds only I think. Snap-on sells boots also, but they are a Taiwan knock-off of the Redbacks.

Redwing is the only boot I"ve found that makes sizes for every foot. I am a size 12 A with a AAA heal. I like the Wellington style and they last a long time. Curent pair is 5 yrs old and going strong. Normally get 8-10 yrs service from a pair worn 18 hrs a day 7 days a week.

I'm with you Jim, Justin's are just like wearing running shoes...maybe more comfortable.

how do you get your redwings to last so long? I wear mine out in a year or year and a half. I put mine on at 5 am and they dont come off till 9 pm 7 days a week. If you got a trick let me know.

I rub mine with saddle soap ever so often. Seems to work I get at least five years out of them. And I am not easy on equipment. Been known to break things.

I have been wearing the timberland pro.. they are good boots around 120 dollars. i go through them quicker because i get only about 12 months out of them before they are worn down some and don't give me the support i need. i have had two foot surgeries so i replace them quicker then most people.
