Agco 8610 - Possible Purchase - Throttle Question

I"m looking at purchasing a used Agco 8610. The throttle is controlled by a set of buttons on the roof support (as opposed to a lever).

My concern is that an electrical switch will probably fail before a manual controlled lever. I can"t find any mention of ongoing problems with Agco throttles designed this way but thought I"d try to grab a few opinions before I turn over the cash.

Most of your diesel pickups are the same way I think, I know mine is. Is that tractor a White 8610?, and does it have any warranty left? I really wouldn't be to concerned alot of the newer tractors are controlled that way, I always thought that way you couldn't begin to fix it you'd have to call a dealer. Good luck!!

I find that people are more scared of the electric stuff than they need to be. The electric stuff on newer tractors doesn't have that many problems but this tractor is 15-20 years old. I would test it and if it operates all right then go for it if it has any trouble forget it.

Im not trying to rain on your parade so to speak but the throttle on an 8610 would be the least of your worries. Not reliable, user freindly or durable tractor in my opinion. The throttle on the cab post is kinda like a cruise control. I should still have a hand throttle as well as a foot throttle. Im not being anti agco, just anti 8610. Ask around alot more about it, I dont think you will be happy with it, I could get more specific with problems if you want.

After looking at the tractor, it's a definite "NO". It's only a 1993 and there's already some toggle switches for lights and the FWA bolted to the dash. The hood latches are broken and the hood is bolted down. That's just the stuff I can see wrong.

Now pricing out either a NEW Kubota M108X or a JD 6115D ... any opinions on those??
