Morrow County Antique Tractor Plow Day

On Sunday April 19, 2009 my wife and I attended the plow day for the Morrow County Antique Tractor & Equipment Assoc Inc. It started at 9am, but we did not arrive until 11am. The club did a great job putting up signs for directions to the farm where it was held. Since we were not familiar with the area this was a big help. Also, there was a bucket loader available to lift the plow of and on the trailer. This makes things much easier. I started plowing shortly after we unloaded.
This was our second plow day in two days, but this was only about 45 minutes from our house. We used the same tractor that we used on Saturday. The tractor is a 1946 Massey Harris 81 RC and Moline steel wheeled plow with two (14")bottoms. I had been plowing for about an hour; then lunch was served. Nice lunch and then some time was spent talking to old and new friends. Then I returned to plowing until about 2:30pm when I stopped because of other commitments. We had a great time and enjoyed plowing myself and watching others plow. Great variety for tractors and plows were there to watch. Also got some good adice on some adjustments that i need to make on my plow.
Thanks to the club and the property owners.

Guess I had not seen this coming up...!!

I am just south of Delaware, Ohio...

How many were there and were there many with plows badly out of adjustment..?? (probably)..!!
I usually spend more time with my wrenches out, adjusting other plows, than plowing myself...!!!
I enjoy doing it, so that kind of helps make it an enjoyable day for me too..!!
Sometimes I have to drop my plow (JD 630) and hook onto an un-scoured plow, to shine it up so it can be pulled with less HP..
A lot of fellas borrow a plow but have lightened their tractors up for "Pulling" and can't pull what they "Brung"..!!
"Pulling" is a whole lot different than actually doing "Field-Work"...!!!!!
I prefer "Field-Work", myself...!
Nothing like a great big "G", Oil-Pull or "D" loafing along, getting the job DONE..!!
I guess the sound I remember of the old Steam Railroad engines is revisited by those 2-Cylinder tractors..!! But, they all sound fantastic, under a steady load..no matter how many cylinders they have...!!
