How hot does the transmission housing get? I have a m8540 Kubota and when using the loader it has gotten hot enough to melt the plastic filler plug. It is hot to the touch and the axle housings are hot. It has proper amount of fluid and the filters have been changed. Thanks Amo.

hmm I would think that it is not supposed to melt the filler plug.

Either it is too hot or badly engineered. ie wrong material filler plug.

I am assuming this is a hydro drive unit?

Does it get hot when not using the loader?

It may not be the loader that is causing the heat. But maybe you are pushing it too hard into the load and trying to get as much load as you can. The Kubota is not a heavy duty tractor like the US made tractors are. If you ever have to tear into a Kubota transmission you will see they are not much more than a riding mower!
I've seen people push loader tractors just because they don't know any different. These machines do have their limits.

If you have melt the filler plug you better change the hydraulic oil and filter because I would surely think the oil is burnt and lost it's lubricity.
