It's not my day...

I went to get fertilizer for the hay field today and instead of renting one of the older trailers that you have to manually engage the spreader function, I decided to get one of the ones that hook to the remotes. Well, the tips on the hoses will not fit in my remotes (67 JD 4020). At least I can't get them to fit. So now I have a trailer full of fertilizer that I cannot spread. Got a call into my neighbor who has a MF 383 to see if I can ask a favor.

Any ideas?

Ya'll ever have days like this?

Might want to get a set of adapters. Local rural king has some that have old school JD male tips and female ISO ends for (I think) about $10 each. Get a set of two and keep'm in the tool box for $20 and the next time this happens you will be good to go, just plug the adapters into the tractor and the iso male ends into the adapter and roll on.

Or like Gary said, just "borrow" tips off one of your cylinders and put the iso tips back before you take the buggy back.

Good luck.

I'd rather not use adapters if it's a coupler style thing. Minimize the number of couplers you're running through when you have a large oil demand.
I'd just swap ends with another set of hoses for the duration of this job... but in the end I think I'd see if I could convert the tractor to ISO females if it didn't involve changing too many male tips (cost) It makes life easier when they're compatiable with everything else...

I wish I had another set to "borrow" from, but I do not. I will check a few farm supply stores in the morning to see if I can find a set of adapters.

Adaptors will save you frustration. If you take old style JD male couplers off a cylinder they most likely will have the small O ring threads and the hoses on the fert spreader will be either larger O ring or 1/2" pipe thread. BTDT and been very red faced and frustrated. Jim

I've ran adapters to standard ISO on my 4020. I seriously got sick and tired of wrenching 4020 fittings onto an implement.

Are you saying that you do not have any other set of hoses that you can take the ends off and switch for one job?
