We're infested with these buggers. I sprayed Round Up and Momma is now picking them, being very careful to pick up all the stickers that have fallen.
This yard is going to be a lawn, and I'm saying she's being too careful. Just till them in and plant the grass. The Round Up killed them. She says they'll sprout again if she doesn't get them all.
Who's right?

Thanx,
Chuck

If the seeds were mature enough to be viable for sprouting when the plant died, they may still germinate. I think it would depend on whether or not the seed was fully mature and independant of the plant that formed it.

if she is doing all of the picking up then she is right
quit arguing and let her be
this way you won't get them back as easily

4 questions...
1. What IS an evilboweviel?
2. Are there good boweviels?
3. How do you tell the difference?
4. Have you seen these weevels that eat goatshead?

When we moved here 5 years ago, our back yard was FULL of sand spurs, sounds very similar in nature, 50 seeds per plant, very prolific, hurt like crazy when you step on them. Our poor dogs... Just about under control now. Have had to spray roundup on each plant, cut off the seeds if there are any. They are "smart" too... I figured out that if you just cut the grass often enough and low enough, the seeds couldn't grow. They outsmarted me, and just grew seed(burrs) lower than I was cutting. Persistance is the key, and in your case maybe some weevils.

If you are talking about the vine that has sticker that look like small goats heads, they were bad when I moved here.So I started an everday search with a sharp shovel, and would push it hard under the vine, cutting the stem, under the ground, and getting all of the stickers.I would burn or dump them in the trash. If the root is not cut below the ground ,it will continue to grow. After three or so years I have them under control.

Make a salad out of it. Cheap v!agra......

Check and see if a preemergent herbicide will kill them. Get your grass going this summer then spray early in the spring and you should be rid of most of them.
