Ford 3400 Won't catch spark....

Greetings,

We have a Ford 3400 and this evening while mowing it ran out of diesel, so we went and dutifully got more, came back, filled her up and then could not get it start. The battery is good and the starter is turning but not catching. Thought we might have flooded it after so many attempts to start, so we left it alone, came back and still nothing. Any helpful suggestions??

Thanks!
Robert

Not sure about spark on a diesel...
If it is in fact a diesel those 3 cyl Fords are rather easy to bleed the injectors on.
That engine is the same as a Ford 3000. Suggest you purchase a copy of the I&T FO-31 manual where the procedure is clearly spelled out.

Correct, I'm tired and I've been fighting with this thing all night! Wrong terminology, sorry. Thanks for the heads up on the manual.

bleeding a diesel is not terribly hard. I've done it plenty of times on Perkins engines and a few times on Navistar v-8's. Just barely crack the nuts on the lines at the injectors one at a time and turn the starter till fuel comes out and tighten them back up. Repeat this till it starts.
