The darned stuff falls over with every hard rain.

Neighbors have bodacious and it has not fallen down yet.

We have some planted in our postage size garden. Last year we had to run fence post in the garden then tie up each and every stalk just to get a taste. Were at it again this year. Our german shephard loves sweet corn so its a fight to the finish to see which one of us gets a taste so
Dont get discouraged .The dog usually wins out cause he does have some humongous teeth and can out run me(i'm to old and tired to fight back).

I planted double delicious this year and it is having the same problem with wanting to fall over. My thinking is that I have been keeping it well watered and it has not put roots down very deep, I have backed off on the watering in the hopes it will look deeper for water and put down some deeper roots

Where have you been gettin g the Incredible? Used to grow it before the Bodacious but couldnt find the seed any more.

Don't you be badmouthing my peaches and cream sweetcorn. Its the only kind I like. Never had any trouble with it falling over even when the 'coons get in it! It does have trouble standing against the disk and the 4955FWA at the end of the season however! Armand

Stephen in SOKY I'll go ahead and give a couple of sources and you can chime in with yours. Hope you don't mind.

Otis S. Twilley Seed Co. and Siegers Seed Co. both carry Incredible variety in their 2009 catalogs.

I've been planting both Bodacious and peaches and cream for several years, as I have a couple cutomers who ask for p&c. Never had any problem with lodging, but noticed that Bodacious is more drought tolerant. Would have planted all Bodacious this year, but the guy I buy seed from only had 1/2 what I wanted... so planted both again.

Neither me or my neighbor watered.
Bodacious and P&C planted at aobut same time.
His stands, this is the third time hard rain has taken mine down.

I would think you have a nutrient defeciency in your soil. Potash gives stalk strength and you may need to bring that level up.... Gene

Amen! We've grown this for several years and it is the best we have found. And it's much easier to silk than some varieties. Mike

did it fall at the roots? could be how deep you planted seed.my vote is ambrosia, from willhite in texas(better than p&c)

ever try Iowa chief? i have to special order from Earl Mays but it is not as sweet so my wife likes it. nice ears and doesn,t fall down. whatever my neighbor plants is down all the time. Nw Ia And still raining

I don't plant yellow or bi-color corn anymore. I plant white corn. Silver King and Seneca Snow Shoe. Have not had a problem with it going down.

Incredible is a fine choice.......but I prefer Honey Select, have raised it the last 2-3 seasons. I"ve raised Bodacious in the past.....it"s good too.

Never had any problem with any corn variety standing up. If you"ll put the fertilize to it and not be cheap with it......you"ll get your money back in a healthy crop. I use 19-19-19 and at lay by, I pour the ammonia to it. Corn is a heavy feeder and that last dose of N really pushes it to the finish.

Iowa Chief...good lord.........we raised an ate that stuff when I was a kid in the early-mid 60"s. My dad still manages to find some seed every spring.....that stuff is like eating field corn compared to the modern varieties. Prior to that, it was Golden Bantam.......that is one of the very first varieties ever developed. Today"s offerings are tons better.

We never depend on just one variety.Planted a corn called Pilot on a small plot to test.Very few seeds sprouted. The rest of the plot was planted the same day to Delectable,That came up fine.We stick with Trinity,Incredible and Delectable.
